Research from Paragon bank reportedly says there is increased demand for HMO rentals and that prospective tenants are demanding better, faster broadband, better furniture and en suite bathrooms. The bank suggests this could be the result of more people working from home and having spent more time online during the pandemic.

56% of landlords said tenants wanted better broadband, 53% said en suite bathrooms, 39% said larger rooms and 35% said "office facilities" for home working.

Managing director - mortgages - at Paragon, Richard Rowntree said "HMOs used to be dogged by a reputation for poor quality housing" but that that perception had changed due to landlords upgrading stock to meet the changing demand from tenants. He added that "tenants will no longer accept poor quality."
